Thinking of heading to New York City with your kids? Here are just a few awesome places you may want to consider visiting, not just to see but also for some awesome photographs of your kids!
What could be more iconic than Times Square in New York City? Capture the bustle and excitement while having your child pose in front of The Marquis Theatre, Planet Hollywood, or checking out the big screen. With older kids, try a tripod and a long exposure – ask them to stand still for a few seconds while the crowd breezes by to get a unique take on the city’s most well-known attraction.
This amazing elevated park and former railway track features tons of green spaces, amazing views and a water park. Let the kids explore and play as you capture some candid and posed shots.
With over 5,000 candy types; your kids will be in sugar-filled heaven. Whether as a location (the colorful displays make for a fun back drop) or a break (or bribe) in between shots, the candy bar will delight your kids and satisfy even the most discerning sweet-tooth.
Feature Brooklyn or Manhattan Bridges for an interesting backdrop to your kids’ photos. The park also is home to the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory – a perfect place to stop after a tough day of taking photos!
Perhaps a bit cliché, but it is certainly one of the places that all New York City tourists want to visit at least once in their lives. Keep in mind the cost – $25 for adults and $19 for kids over six years. Make sure you get some photos of your kids’ faces when they get to the top – you’ll see some great expressions!
For just $4 you can take a ride on the PATH Train (kids love trains!) and head to the waterfront. Take some fun shots of your kids featuring the amazing Manhattan skyline in the background for some truly memorable images. Keep an eye out for fun playgrounds and amazing food while you are there, they aren’t hard to find!
Besides being “central” to everything, Central Park has a tone of awesome kid’s photo opportunities; lakes, streams, lawns, statues, 21 playgrounds, a carousel, pool, ice rink, and the world-famous Central Park Zoo. Think of the opportunities for great photos!
What could possible get your kid in a better mood for some photos than the oldest, arguably most amazing toy store in North America? Close to Central Park, the store features tons of activities for kids to keep them happy, and may be the perfect location for a rainy day.
This huge par has it all, sports fields, a giant playground, a zoo and botanical garden, horseback riding, walking paths, a dog beach, and an ice rink in the winter. Most activities are free or very reasonably priced – perfect for the budget-friendly traveller.
Although this park is already mentioned, the carousel deserves its own section. A spectacularly restored, nearly 100 year old carousel poised against an amazing backdrop of the East River and Lower Manhattan, kids will love the horses, and you’ll love the chance to get photographs of them having a great time.
