BEST CHILD PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY

While Manhattan certainly offers terrific opportunities for child photography, there are plenty of places across the Hudson that provide lovely places to photograph your kids. Here are a few of our tried and true favorites.

Pier A

The large, grassy lawn here offers an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline – a perfect background for photos of your kids. Let the run around and enjoy themselves, once they’ve burned off some energy you can capture them gazing across the Hudson River, or looking at the camera.

Jersey City

Dramatic city scapes, colorful boulevards, there’s nothing not to love about Jersey City. In between classic pizza and delicious bagels, take in the sights of this historic city and enjoy the skyline along the waterfront.

Liberty State Park

Want a lovely photo of your child with the Manhattan skyline in the background, or the Statue of Liberty? This is the place to go. Located along the Hudson River, Liberty Park offers a lovely boulevard, green play space, a playground, etc. to frame your photos. Go on a day when there’s a clear sky, with big puffy clouds to add interest to the background.

Fort Lee State Park

This gem is a 33-acre cliff-top park area with scenic overlooks of Manhattan and the George Washington Bridge. For kids, you’ll have your choice of scenic areas, including amazing colors in the fall from the wide variety of deciduous trees. Kids will also enjoy visiting the forest itself with a reconstructed Revolutionary War encampment and canons, or playing along the waterline.

Frelinghuysen Arboretum

Located in Morristown, this lush oasis offers incredible and colorful varieties of flowers and trees, nature paths and lovely old buildings. Take a walk with your kids and bring your camera along for the ride. Grab some candid photos of them frolicking, running, climbing, etc., or have them pose under a trellis or archway.

World of Wings

Do your kids love butterflies? How about lizards and frogs? Combine an educational experience with a photo shoot by taking them to this fun-filled place. They even have birthday party packages!

Don’t forget that the rest of New Jersey offers incredible opportunities for photos of your kids. For example, you can always head south to the Jersey Shore and Casino Pier, or take in the beautiful array of beaches and parks along the way.
